We hope you are enjoying your summer. We are making the most of our summer days that are left and look forward to a family vacation the end of Karstens radiation treatments. Karsten is tolerating the radiation very nicely. We havent seen any side effects of burns or nausea yet and hope we dont. Radaition is every morning, Monday thru Friday. They zap him for about 10 to 15 minutes and then we are off for home. Getting up early has been a good thing. I am starting to believe the saying, "Early to bed, early to rise , makes a woman healthy and wise."
He got another bug in his blood so we are currently in the hospital for a few days until they know exactly what it is so they can send us home on the right I.V. antibotic. He doesnt act sick and is as active as ever. His immune system will take several months to recover from all the cemotherapy he has had. It doesnt help that he has three different types of tubing in his body that can cause infection (trach, broviac and tummy tube) The sooner that we can get those out the better. The trach and broviac should be able to come out this Fall. Will and I have been counting are many blessings. Until next time!
