EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON!! The Fagans new moto!

Karsten got his trach out a week and a half ago. He responded very well and loves his voice so much that he yells at the top of his lungs. Sometimes I wish we still had the trach. The trach removal has sure brought out his little personality even more... STUBBORN!! Two days after the surgery to remove his trach, he got a cold and cough and is having a tough time getting over it. Everything is a little foregin to him when it comes to breathing through his nose, mouth and even clearing his throat. Yesterday was suppost to be the BIG day for the MRI and they were not able to do it because of his cold; sedation would be too risky. Of course we were really disapointed but once again we realize that everything happens for a reason. I look at it this way, maybe the radaiton is still working killing off the remaining cells. We had a Doctors appointment with Dr Vanhuvelen (his radaition oncologist) and he said that radiation continues to work for 3 months after the last dose. His last treatment was September 1st so we are seriously considering waiting until December 1st. The Doc went on to say that if they were to do the MRI now they probably wouldnt be able to tell us the tumor was completely gone because of after effects from radation. The Lord works in mysterious ways. If we would of had the MRI and they told us that everything looked fine and didnt tell me that it was GONE!!! I think I would of needed to be sent to a room with padded walls for a couple of hours. So the Lord has stepped in once again and has prepared me. Karsten is doing fabulous. He will walk on his own if mom or dad is the final destination.... He is tough as nails. Will and I have had the opportunity to put on a fireside about what we have been through the past two years. We had 40 slides of hospital pictures that brought back alot of feelings and memories. It was a neat experience to share what we have learned over the past two years. We have had so many neat experieces as a family and all you want to do is share those experiences. We have even talked about writing a book that could be of help to cancer families. Life right now is so busy with school, soccer practices and games plus piano that we might need to wait until things slow down a little..... BUT WAIT, as all mothers know lifes doesnt really slow down and that is O.K. it is all for the good any way. Take care everyone, we will continue to update every month or so.
